Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects millions of people. If you have diabetes, it is very important to take care of yourself. Bronson Battle Creek Diabetes Center can provide you and your family with the information and skills you need to manage your diabetes.
Services Available:
Group Classes
Group classes are offered for adults as three, three-hour sessions on a weekly basis. The classes are led by registered nurses and dietitians who are certified diabetes educators. Group classes are offered in morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. Physician referral is required. Group Classes meet in the Medical Office Building in Suite 309.

Individual Education Services
Registered nurses and dietitians who are certified diabetes educators facilitate one-on-one education sessions tailored to meet your specific education needs. Physician referral is required. Education is provided in the Medical Office Building in Suite 308.

- Blood Glucose Monitoring
- Medication Overview
- Injection Therapy
- Meal Planning
- Behavior Change
- Diabetes Overview
Diabetes Counseling During Pregnancy
Registered nurses and dietitians who are certified diabetes educators facilitate one-on-one education sessions to counsel you on how to control your glucose levels during pregnancy. Physician referral is required. Education is provided in the Medical Office Building in Suite 308.
Topics may include:
- Meal planning
- Exercise
- Insulin Injection
- Blood glucose monitoring
Continuous Glucose Monitoring
Continuous glucose monitoring provides a closer look into glucose trends between blood glucose testing done on home meters. It can help your provider identify glucose patterns over the course of the day and night to help guide your management for better glucose control. Physician referral is required.
Continuous glucose monitoring may be helpful if you are experiencing:
- Elevated Hemoglobin A1C levels
- Hypoglycemia occurring in the evening hours
- Hypoglycemia unawareness
- High blood glucose after meals
- Fluctuating blood glucose levels
- Poor glucose control
Follow-Up Sessions
Follow-up sessions are scheduled during the first, third, sixth, and twelfth month following your education class or session to assess your progress with your diabetes self-management skills. We provide you with ongoing support for the daily management of your diabetes. Follow-up sessions are held on the third Thursday of every month at 1:00 pm in the Medical Office Building in Suite 309. Pre-registration is encouraged.
Support Group
Our Carry-On Support group allows you to share experiences with others who have diabetes. A registered dietitian and registered nurse are present to facilitate. The support group meets on the third Thursday of every month at 9:00 am in the Medical Office Building in Suite 309. The support group is free to the public and a physician referral is not required. Pre-registration is not required.
Insurance and Billing
Bronson Battle Creek will bill your insurance for diabetes education services received. Many insurance carriers cover diabetes education, but always check with your insurance plan for more information. You will be responsible for paying any annual deductibles, co-payments or payments for services not covered by your insurance.
Quality
The Bronson Battle Creek Diabetes Center has met the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education by the American Diabetes Association and is certified by the Michigan Department of Community Health.
