Cancer Center Hosting Fashion ShowThe Cancer Care Center at Battle Creek Health System is hosting its first-ever fashion show on Thursday, October 7, from 6-8 p.m. in the BCHS Outpatient Center. Cost is $15 per person.
“We decided to hold this fashion show to honor those who are breast cancer survivors,” says Sue DeRuiter, RN, BS, CBPN-C, nurse navigator at BCHS. “But you certainly don’t have to have had breast cancer to attend. This is a chance for all of us to enjoy new friends and to be supportive of those who are fighting cancer.” “We are indeed fortunate to have people among us who have the strength, beauty, and courage to be part of a cancer networking opportunity like this style show to help others face this often-deadly disease,” adds Barb Townsend a member of the One Day at a Time cancer support group at the hospital. “These fashions accentuate the grace that we all can have if we maintain hope and a positive outlook toward the future.” Breast cancer survivors and BCHS cancer physicians will model a number of stunning fall fashions from My Style, Your Style of Battle Creek. Attendees will also enjoy refreshments, and be able to participate in a variety of drawings for prizes. All proceeds from this event will go toward the hospital’s Cancer Center Medication Fund and One Day at a Time Breast Cancer support group. Programs and services at The Cancer Care Center include support groups, private counseling, a peer support network, mind/body wellness activities, a patient assistance fund, a resource library, and more. If you are interested in attending, tickets are available at The Cancer Care Center and at My Style, Your Style at 2545 Capital Avenue SW. Or you can call (877) Go2-BCHS (877-462-2247 to reserve your tickets for pick up when you arrive for the event. (Cash or check only).
