Beginning With Babies

As each family wishes to select their own birth preference, we offer these options for you to discuss with your physician.

Families Grow Together. . .
Immediately following the actual birth, your baby will stay with you for those first exciting introductions. After you have had a chance to bond, your baby's first height, weight and infant bath will be completed. This time is especially valuable as infant bonding begins with your shared touch, sight and language. Bonding is the first loving connection that will help your family grow strong for the future. Your doctor and nurses will assist you in this important process.

Families Grow With Knowledge
The care options for families in the Bronson Battle Creek Family Birth Center are designed to provide the best beginning for new babies. Family-centered maternity care invites you to keep your baby with you in your room. Your nurses will support, teach, demonstrate and help as you and your family grow together. The birth center is a learning environment - a place for you to ask questions and develop confidence with your support person. The special care program includes learning about: family instruction on bathing, dressing and feeding your infant; safety, health and wellness; and, help in understanding you baby's emotional and developmental needs. Families team through one-on-one dialogue with their nurse, through written materials and video offerings in the comfort of their own room.

Special Touches
A special room service menu is available during your stay, offering a wide range of ordering option, night or day. Auxiliary volunteers provide each baby with their first bonnet and booties. Babies who require special care, early babies or those with difficulty adapting - are placed close to family in our Special Care Nursery. Neonatal nurses in this area are R.N.'s with additional training to care for the unique needs of these babies. You will be given a wide-range of information to help your family, and to celebrate your baby's first precious moments.
