Wound Healing Center & Hyperbaric Medicine
Bronson Battle Creek offers a full range of wound healing services
Problem wounds create a complex set of challenges. The Bronson Battle Creek Wound Healing Center and Hyperbaric Medicine provides a full range of services for effective wound treatment and associated medical conditions
The treatment team reviews all the needs of the patients including wound care supplies and devices that will help the wound heal and at-home wound care. Detailed patient instructions are provided along with a plan for ongoing follow-up and support services.
We provide an extensive assessment of the wound site as well as the patient’s health factors that may be affecting the wound healing process. In addition, the center develops individualized treatment plans, coordinates care, and provides patients and care givers with education on how to care for their wounds at home, as well as lifestyle adjustments that will speed the healing process.
The center’s high healing rates are achieved by offering a wide range of treatments specifically designed to promote the healing process. The treatment team has advanced training in removing non-living tissue and foreign materials from the wound. If they did not remove these, healthy tissue could not grow.
Patient treatment plans include individualized dietary regimes to ensure adequate levels of nutrients that promote healing. Appropriate support surfaces such as special beds, mattresses, seat cushions, or appropriate footwear are prescribed to reduce or relieve pressure on existing wounds and areas of weakened tissue.
Appropriate wound and blood cultures or biopsies are performed to identify cause(s) of infection or other reasons why a wound will not heal. Compression therapy such as elastic stockings or bandages may be used on lower extremities to decrease swelling. Swelling in the legs is the main reason venous stasis ulcers will not heal.
